Job Summary:
The Chef will oversee and take responsibility for all matters regarding the day to day running of the kitchen/coffee bar. The Chef will be responsible for budgeting of ordering, organisation of menus and preparing and serving nutritious meals for on average 100 residents per day.
Purpose:
The chef will work directly with the residents who are affected by alcohol/gambling misuse and or related problems. They will work as part of a team to provide practical life skills to support, assist and encourage services users develop their capacity to live independently free from addiction.
The successful candidate will require:
? A minimum of Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene For Catering with an expectation to complete level 3 following commencement of employment. NVQ Level 2 Catering and Hospitality or equivalent e.g. City and Guilds
? One year's paid experience within the past five years of working with in a catering/cook role, in particular
? Experience of meal planning and cooking to a set meal plan
? Dealing with suppliers and ordering within a set budget whilst achieving the best value for money.
? Controlling food safety hazards, controlling temperatures, food storage, food preparation, personal and food hygiene and premises cleaning.
? Sound knowledge and experience of Health and safety Procedures including COSHH and HACCP.
? Effective organisational skills to include the ability to manage and prioritise workloads and multi-task.
? Ability to work with others as part of a team.
? Experience within the past five years of working with people at risk or with complex needs in a supportive environment and preferably guiding them in the day to day activities of food preparation.
? Ability to work on own initiative and without direction.
? Flexible and adaptable approach to working arrangements and shift patterns.
