The Role
As a Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Conducting fire engineering reports and fire safety strategies for various projects, including education, residential, healthcare, industrial, and commercial properties.
Undertaking EWS1 and FRAEW surveys, ensuring compliance with PAS 9980:2022 and current building regulations.
Conducting design and retrospective fire strategies, compartmentation surveys, and preparing specifications and designs for remedial repairs.
Reviewing architectural design proposals to assess compliance with relevant fire safety standards and regulations.
Advising on fire integrity and compartmentation, identifying breaches, and proposing remedial actions.
Providing specialist fire engineering advice to support multidisciplinary teams within Europe and beyond.
Managing client relationships, ensuring high standards of service delivery, and identifying opportunities to develop the workload.
Leading and managing a team of engineers and administrative staff, promoting the practice and maintaining client relationships.
Limited travel within the region and occasional international work may be required.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
Undergraduate degree in Fire Engineering or a relevant equivalent qualification.
Chartered Fire Engineer (CEng) registered with the IFE and Engineering Council.
Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS9991, BS9999, BS7974, PAS 9980, RRFSO, Building Regulations Approved Document B).
Experience with EWS1 survey reports and FRAEW assessments.
Familiarity with DLUHC guidelines regarding external wall systems and the Building Safety Act 2022.
Strong problem-solving, research, and report writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google software.
Full, clean UK driving licence and own vehicle.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills:
Experience leading fire safety projects from inception to completion.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership abilities.
Client-facing experience with a focus on quality and relationship management.
Ability to develop, maintain, and grow client accounts and frameworks.
