The Martin Gallier Project are looking to extend the Board of Trustees with the addition of a Treasurer.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about preventing suicide, breaking down stigma and supporting families to join an established and growing charity that are fiercely dedicated to doing just that.
As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will play a vital role in making sure that The Martin Gallier Project achieves it's core purpose by supporting and challenging the executive team in order to ensure sustainability and growth of the charity.
Duties of a Trustee include:
Attending regular Trustee Meetings and being a part of discussions that are focused around the purpose, mission and values of The Martin Gallier Project
Providing support and guidance on The Martin Gallier Projects purpose, vision, goals and activities.
Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated charitable objects as defined in the Governing Document.
Ensuring that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
Ensuring operational plans and budgets support the vision and strategy.
Uphold the good name and values of the organisation.
Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.
Protecting and managing the property of the organisation and ensuring the proper investment of its funds.
Ensuring that the organisation has a governance structure that is appropriate to a charity of its size/complexity, stage of development, and its charitable objects, and reflects the diversity of is its stakeholders.
Ensure that the board regularly reviews the governance structure and its own performance against an agreed programme.
Ensuring that the board regularly reviews its own training needs and creates an expectation of continuous professional development throughout the organisation.
As a Treasurer on our Board of Trustees, you will have:
Experience as a finance professional with a good understanding of business and financial planning plus financial management
A good knowledge and experience in fundraising and finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations
Experience in advising others on financial matter and being prepared to ask good questions that enable the board to have solid insight into the organisations financial standing
An absolute to have strategic financial oversight
What we are looking for:
An individual who is passionate about suicide prevention and holds enthusiasm in our mission to prevent suicide, break down stigma and support families.
Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as a Trustee and to act in the best interest of the charity.
Ability to think creatively and strategically whilst working effectively as a Board Member.
Willingness to lead according to The Martin Gallier Project's values.
Preferably an understanding of ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) however training will be provided.
This is a voluntary role which involves meeting on a regular basis with the Board of Trustees and the senior management team of The Martin Gallier Project. You must be willing to commit your time and effort and be passionate about our mission.
