We are looking for someone to provide administrative leadership for and support the activities of two research centres, the cross-university Edinburgh Centre for Financial Innovations, and the Business School-based, Credit Research Centre.
The Edinburgh Centre for Financial Innovations (ECFI), in collaboration with external stakeholders, exploits the big data and computational evolution in financial services for societal benefit. Using a unique interdisciplinary lens combining the physical and engineering sciences with the social sciences, humanities, and the arts, ECFI engages in research addressing real world challenges facing society today, challenges that the application of finance and technology-inspired thinking within a truly interdisciplinary context can help address. These include, among others, the safe and fair application of AI/intelligent/autonomous systems in the delivery of financial services and associated security and regulation issues, exploiting open banking and related data frameworks to develop equitable and dynamic incentive-based data-driven solutions to address climate change, and addressing consumer financial insecurity and vulnerability. Founded in 1997, Credit Research Centre (CRC) is an impartial independent research group devoted to the study of credit. Its mission is to conduct research into theory and practices of all aspects of credit, and especially consumer credit, to the highest possible standards. It has an international reputation for the quality of its research and practical impact. To mention just a few key outputs, CRC has produced numerous academic papers, including 10 Special Issues of reputed peer-reviewed academic journals; 4 Impact Case Studies; 18 biennial conferences bringing together academia and industry; a great variety of impact conferences, seminars, round tables. The topics range from highly technical credit risk methodologies to wider societal problems, e.g. algorithmic bias, climate risk, financial inclusion of individuals and SMEs. This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The Opportunity:
The Centre Manager will play a key role in providing management, coordination, marketing, reporting, and engagement support related to the Centres. The post will also directly support collaborations with corporate partners. In case of ECFI, in the first instance, a strategic partnership with a major UK bank.
Key responsibilities include providing planning and coordination, business development, marketing and events support working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
This role is key to the smooth running of the operations of the Centres, it requires an outstanding individual with the interpersonal and management skills to work independently and confidently to successfully interact with multiple functions within the University and ensure effective systems and workflow in a fast-paced context.
