Job Description


This role will involve the practitioner working within the team in a busy Cardiology department providing a range of complex cardiology investigations and producing detailed and evidence based clinical reports.The post holder will perform a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations according to grade and within scope of training.The post would suit a newly or recently qualified Cardiac Physiologist/PTP looking for a springboard to further their career. Ensuring a flexible and responsible service, which is based on an individualised approach to patients, respecting their privacy and dignity at all times.Act in accordance with Trust health and safety policy ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Report any untoward incidents as set out in the Trust policies and procedures. Participate in out of hours and weekend working as required to ensure safe and equitable service delivery to our patients.Able to liaise closely with patients, including those with whom it may be difficult to communicate, and with their carers, explaining procedures and results as appropriate.The post holder will be required to deal with some patients who are acutely unwell and /or distressed. Ensure that all patients are dealt with courteously and promptly whilst maintaining their comfort and dignity as much as is possibleThe post holder is required to promote the Trust's core values of positivelyCaring, Respect, Teamwork, Improvement.Main duties of the job

  • Ensure clinical safety standards are met when supervising all rehabilitation sessionsin line with service policies.
  • Maintaining all records associated with the Cardiac Physiology Team an organised and confidential manner in accordance with Code of Conduct and Caldicot Principles.
  • Prepare Clinical areas and maintain clinical equipment, reporting any faults immediately to line manager / service lead.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning and regular cleaning of equipment as per infectionprevention and control standards.
  • Perform supervisions of assistants and students as necessary.

  • Degree in Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science (Specifically Cardiac)
Desirable
  • Membership of relevant clinical interest groups e.g.,RCCP, BHRS, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of the application of cardiac physiology in regard to clinical assessment.
Knowledge and SkillsEssential
  • Knowledge of Clinical Cardiology tests in relation to cardiorespiratory disease.
  • The ability to perform and demonstrate a range of basic testing for those attending clinical sessions.
  • Experience in the safe and correct use of a range of equipment.
  • Basic IT skills.
Desirable
  • Experience of using software for developing A&R and presentations.
  • Good clinical reasoning skills based on evidence and current research.
