The Manufacturing Site Engineering and Capital Director at Barnard Castle is responsible for transforming site engineering and capital projects to align with a future vision that is both capability and cost competitive. This role aims to establish Barnard Castle as a centre of excellence within GSK for engineering and capital project execution, managing a diverse portfolio that includes small molecule and oligo product production infrastructure.The role encompasses providing strategic leadership, aligning workforce capabilities with long-term objectives, and fostering high-impact stakeholder relationships. The director will oversee strategic business changes, promote continuous improvements in project management, and partner within GSK and the external engineering network to share best practices and foster innovation.Transforming older facilities and integrating them with new engineering capabilities. Enhancing engagement with GSK, the broader industry, and the local community to position the role beyond day-to-day site operations.The role also encompasses providing strategic leadership and vision for engineering and capital operations, aligning workforce capabilities with long-term objectives, championing the site's reputation as a centre of excellence, and fostering high-impact stakeholder relationships. It involves overseeing strategic business change initiatives, identifying operational readiness opportunities, and promoting continuous improvements, TPM and maintenance excellence. Additionally, the role focuses on partnering within GSK and the wider engineering network to share best practices, foster innovation, and develop a culture of excellence and capability within the team.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Strategic Leadership and Vision: Provide strategic leadership and vision for the engineering and capital operations at Barnard Castle, aligning workforce capabilities with long-term objectives and ensuring the site is positioned as a centre of excellence within GSK. Portfolio Management: Oversee the diverse portfolio of engineering and capital projects, including the infrastructure for small molecule and oligo product production, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Transformational Change: Lead the transformation of older facilities, integrating them with new engineering capabilities to create a future-ready site that is both capability and cost competitive. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster high-impact relationships with internal and external stakeholders, enhancing engagement with GSK, the broader industry, and the local community to position the role beyond day-to-day site operations. Operational Readiness: Identify and implement operational readiness opportunities, ensuring the site is prepared to meet future production demands and challenges. Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous improvements in project management, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and maintenance excellence, driving efficiency and effectiveness across the site. Best Practices and Innovation: Partner within GSK and the wider engineering network to share best practices, foster innovation, and develop a culture of excellence and capability within the team. Reputation Management: Champion the site's reputation as a centre of excellence, ensuring that the Barnard Castle site is recognized both within GSK and externally for its engineering and capital project execution. Workforce Development: Align workforce capabilities with long-term objectives, ensuring that the team has the skills and expertise needed to meet future challenges and opportunities. • Capital Project Execution: Experience in planning, executing, and overseeing capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
• Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Knowledge of pharmaceutical production processes, particularly in small molecule and oligo product manufacturing.
• Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards in the pharmaceutical industry to ensure all projects and operations comply with relevant laws and guidelines.
• Continuous Improvement: Proficiency in methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to drive continuous improvements in processes and efficiencies.
• Facility Transformation: Experience in transforming and upgrading older facilities to integrate new engineering capabilities and technologies.
• Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and the local community.
• Strategic Leadership: Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills to align workforce capabilities with long-term objectives and drive the site's vision as a centre of excellence.
• Innovation and Best Practices: Knowledge of the latest industry best practices and innovations to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

• Operational Readiness: Expertise in ensuring operational readiness, preparing the site to meet future production demands and challenges effectively.
