This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sarcoma Service at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust to help develop and enhance the care of cancer patients within the Trust. The Cancer Support Worker role is part of the specialist cancer nursing team and also works with the wider multidisciplinary team within the Trust. It is a vital role to support and provide Personalised Cancer Care to every patient. The Cancer Support Worker role has proven to be extremely successful and is constantly evolving with the aim to ensure RNOH is one of the top providers of Personalised Cancer Care.
This is a full time substantive role. The post holder will be based at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust, Stanmore but may at times be required to work at our Bolsover Street Site to deliver a comprehensive service to all our patients. They must be flexible to suit the service and may infrequently be required to work weekend/evenings.
The Cancer Support Worker is an integral part of the cancer multidisciplinary team - assisting, supporting and co-ordinating aspects of the pathway for patients undergoing investigations and/or treatment for cancer and additionally with ongoing support after treatment has finished.
The post holder must have exceptional communication and people skills. They will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, and be able to use their own initiative whilst demonstrating a consistently high standard of professionalism. The post holder will at all times be aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.
They must be willing to undertake on-going training and development and will receive regular supervision and support.
