Penguin General\xe2\x80\x99s multi award-winning Communications team are on the lookout for a Campaigns Officer (FTC) to join our award-winning team, to cover a period of secondment. This role would have a focus on securing PR for our non-fiction list, particularly our agenda setting, science and business titles. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone with a passion for the news agenda who is alert to opportunities for our books and authors.
The Opportunity
You will be pitching for national PR coverage across print, broadcast, podcast and online outlets and timing that coverage to form attention grabbing campaigns to launch new book releases. You will be pitching authors for features and interviews as well as liaising with bookshops getting booksellers excited about our books, organising events and creating buzz on social media. You will work with authors, agents, and the wider book trade, as well as collaborating closely with in-house colleagues across departments. You will also be involved in supporting other members of the team with the smooth running of high priority campaigns and events.
You\xe2\x80\x99ll be a crucial member of a fun, dynamic and supportive team and will be responsible for planning and implementing strategic PR campaigns that will be impactful and sales-driving.
What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Bring
You\xe2\x80\x99ll need to have an eye for what makes a good press story and be a strong team player. We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone who is super organised and creative with great communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 you\xe2\x80\x99ll be equally comfortable convincing people to read a book via tweets, emails, face-to-face or over the phone. We\xe2\x80\x99re not worried about your current job title, and would love to hear from you if some of the following sound like you:
A proven track-record of securing PR across broadcast, print and online media
Knowledge of the media landscape, social media channels and an understanding of targeting different outlets to reach different audiences
Strong personal organisation and time management skills with excellent attention to detail
A great communicator, able to craft spoken and written pitches that are tailored for their audience, attention grabbing and memorable \xe2\x80\x93 and convey your personal passion, with the ability to confidently communicate effectively to a wide range of people
Experience of working with talent, of setting expectations and updating on our progress towards achieving them
The ability to multitask and identify how to manage competing priorities, communicating any issues identified to colleagues as required

Hybrid working: We\xe2\x80\x99re experimenting with a hybrid way of working that suits the needs of each team.
