Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cafe assistant to join our team for the summer. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and teas, providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, working independently with a chef on shift during weekdays - in a bigger team over the weekends. Your role will involve not only preparing drinks but also opening and closing down the cafe, handling payment, looking after cleanness of the venue, stock and ensuring that our customers have a delightful experience from the moment they enter our establishment.

Duties

- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workspace, including equipment and utensils.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards during food preparation and service.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Engage with customers, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
- Handle cash transactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy in basic maths calculations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Provide help to customers as needed, ensuring their needs are met promptly and courteously.

Skills

- Strong knowledge of food safety practices to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe environment and barista tasks

- Experience in food preparation is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing inventory effectively.
- A friendly disposition with excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members and time management abilities to ensure efficient service

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.50-12.70 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
