Job Description

What if you could work with remarkable people on extraordinary things? What if the end result was something a little bit special? What if your role was mission critical?

For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear weapons research and development. We have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK\xe2\x80\x99s ultimate deterrent \xe2\x80\x93 Trident. We also use our unique skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you?

AWE has great opportunities for CAE Material Model Engineers

These are exciting opportunities for passionate CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Material Model Engineers to lead the development of advanced, non-linear material models and to integrate them into the finite element analysis codes used by the team. As well as developing material models, these roles will involve liaising with material characterisation teams to obtain mechanical test data and using numerical optimisation techniques to calibrate models to test. You will also be expected to lead the design and development of a database of material models using Granta MI and to deploy it for use by modelling teams.

The Engineering Analysis Team support AWE\xe2\x80\x99s mission by providing a range of computational mechanics to the business, such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal and blast analysis. The team work on challenging, weapons-related projects which underpin continuous-at-sea-deterrence and contribute to the security of the nation.
