The Bute Energy 12 Week Internship is designed to give individuals a unique opportunity to be part of our journey to help create a clean and green Wales. Our mission is to create a sustainable world, now and for future generations and help contribute to a net zero Wales.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in the renewable energy sector and are passionate about tackling climate change. We are offering a fantastic opportunity for 1st year, 2nd year, placement year undergraduate or college students to join an intensive but exciting 3 month internship. You will also have the chance to spend a few days in our Edinburgh office in Scotland as well as joining us on our all company wellness residential in Bristol.
On this multidisciplinary programme you will gain valuable experience from our industry experts in a range of departments with 7 rotations from across the business. This includes:
Community Investment & Communications
You will work with the team to understand their role in maximising the social and economic impact of Butes investment in Wales. These are across the themes of: Recreation & Health, Employability, Education, Natural Environment & Culture and Cost of Living.
External Affairs
You will understand how the team communicate Butes mission and values of a cleaner and greener Wales to the outside world. You will also gain exposure to the world of media, brand development, marketing and communication strategies.
People and Engagement
You will gain an understanding of how the team work together to deliver strategic initiatives in line with the Bute Energy People Plan and principles. You will further benefit from understanding the full employee lifecycle and attend our Insights Discovery session, Orientation days, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training.
Land Management
You will gain awareness of how the team identify, agree terms and contract on new renewable energy opportunities for the business. This will include an understanding of how relationships are managed between landowners & occupiers, land surveyors and solicitors to achieve the necessary agreements. You will also accompany the team and meet landowners across Wales to understand the economic impact of renewable energy development in rural Wales
Development
You will gain an awareness of this teams responsibility for bringing the energy park site through the application process to consent. You will collaborate with experts from transport, environment & ecology, landscape & visual, culture & heritage who will support you in developing a more holistic understanding of the site.
Green Gen Cymru
You will gain an understanding of the grid strategy for the organisation and the project development process. The team will bring to life the journey from our wind energy park sites, through grid infrastructure to communities across Wales.
Edinburgh Office
You will be meeting the Commercial, Technical, Finance teams and gain an understanding of their roles and how they contribute to our missions and the expansion of Butes plans across the UK.
Main Responsibilities
Work with various internal departments to gain an understanding of their roles.
We are passionate about the development of individuals therefore during each rotation you will be given a brief and required to submit your findings through mediums of videos, reports, presentations, culminating with a presentation to the senior executive team.
