Business Unit Director - Medical Communications
I am recruiting for a boutique medical communications agency based in the UK, founded in 2016. They run educational activities for pharmaceutical companies - comprising of content generation, digital projects and live events. They work with UK based pharmaceutical companies and societies.
This agency is based in West Sussex and offers either office based or fully remote working. They are made up of around 20 employees currently.
They are looking for an individual with business development experience to oversee relationships with industry and drive opportunities for a society that they work closely with. This society (and other clients they have) span across cardiovascular, oncology and rare diseases. They are particularly looking for a CVRM expert for this role.
Their services for this society include:
- Website management
- Membership
- Committee admin work
- Educational initiatives that are often supported by pharma
Responsibilities for this Business Unit Director role:
- Responsibility over business development decisions to maximise commercial growth within the CVRM space (expand this agency\'s revenue and profit in relation to CVRM activities)
- Leading on existing business development / sales activities for the society - selling of symposiums for annual meetings, sponsorship opportunities on the websites such as webinars and banner adverts, more bespoke opportunities for the society
- New sales / business development (with support from the CEO) - establishing a long term vision for the society, developing a long term strategy
- Client services responsibilities (supporting all account teams around ideas / new activities for current clients / pitches and proposals to current accounts within the society)
- Report directly into the Managing Director (and founder of the agency)
Skills required:
- Mid-senior level business development experience within a medical communications or medical education agency
- Previous business development / sales experience within a medical communications agency or medical publishing company (ability to support and plan business development and growth strategies)
- Strong strategic capabilities within the field of cardiovascular, renal or diabetes space
- Ability to use PowerPoint to a high standard
- Strong client facing / client liaison skills
- Ability to work well in an internal team
- Previous experience working with HCPs to shape content / programme ideas
- Understanding of the ABPI code of contact
