Job Advert Description

Role Purpose:




Responsible for producing a wide range of analytical products using an array of analytical techniques to support the effective management of resourcing, demand, and capability across all levels of the force.


Contribute to change and continuous improvement within the organisation and support evidenced-based decision-making for the effective deployment and utilisation of operational resources.

Key Accountabilities:



To apply a wide range of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques to support strategic and workforce planning and lead on the development of new analytical capabilities.


To work independently with SMTs on strategic projects in relation to demand and capacity to provide business analysis support.


Support the management and coordination of the Organisational Risk Assessments (ORAs), working closely with Department Leads to carry out an effective evaluation of assets and utilise gap analysis techniques.


Provide analytical support to change and continuous improvement projects across the organisation, providing expertise in benefits realisation, process mapping, and project delivery.


Developing analytical tools to support force-wide functions utilising automated reporting and promoting data literacy across all levels of the organisation.


To produce analytical products that support an Evidenced Based Policing approach within North Wales Police with dissemination in the form of written reports, presentations, and interactive data-sharing products.


Provide expert knowledge on the availability, validity, and use of data within force to support data extraction, cleansing, and manipulation in Business Objects, Excel, and Power BI.


Providing support to other analysts within force, coaching and mentoring. Act as key stakeholders in the development of analysts in force.


Manage operational and non-operational resource modelling using data, statistics and Process Evolution software to understand current 'as is' models and test the impact of future scenarios 'to be' models.


To organise, coordinate and deliver surveys, focus groups and workshops with subject matter experts (SME) for data scoping, activity analysis and process modelling.


Contribute to the formulation of the Force Management Statement (FMS) by providing demand analysis, department summaries, and supporting the risk management framework within force.


To present the results of analysis in oral and written forms to a wide range of audiences including Senior Leaders, Operational Managers and External Partners, including HMIC.


To represent the SPU at meetings with other departments, forces, agencies, statutory bodies and public consultations.


To develop and maintain an understanding of current policing structures and processes relevant to the role.


To develop and maintain an understanding of Law Enforcement tactics and investigation practices.


Promote and comply with North Wales Police policies on equal opportunities and health and safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.


Any other duties as directed by the Supervisory Officer commensurate with the post and salary grading.
