In accordance with relevant procedures, you will have individual responsibility for ensuring the safety of passengers whilst being transported to and from establishments.
Main duties of the post include: escorting passengers from home; uplifting and/or setting down passengers and providing physical assistance; assisting passengers to cross the road; ensuring individuals are appropriately secured in their seats; and carrying medication for service users.
It is essential you have effective communication and record keeping skills; a flexible approach when dealing with people; be caring and sensitive with a people centred approach; the ability to work as part of a team and learn new skills to support customer care needs; and a responsible approach to confidential information.
An understanding of the needs of physical/sensory impaired people; awareness of disability issues and how these issues affect people with disabilities; experience of working within social care and a busy environment and IT skills are desirable.
It is essential that you are willing and able to work towards obtaining SVQ level 2 in Social Care.
You must be able to work split shifts.
