Exeter Northcott is a city-wide organisation welcoming more than 100,000 people each year to live theatre and events at the Northcott Theatre on the University campus, and the Barnfield Theatre in the city centre. We are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working people to join our box office sales team, to work across both of our venues.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at our independent theatres in the beautiful city of Exeter, delivering excellent customer service to all who visit our venues.

About the Box Office Team

Duties & Responsibilities:
To work in the Box Office at Exeter Northcott & The Barnfield Theatres undertaking the selling of tickets and responding to customer enquiries.
To provide excellent customer service to our customers, helping them get the most from their visit.
To offer a friendly, welcoming, and efficient service to all customers on the phone, on email and in person.
To accurately and efficiently process customer bookings through our booking system.
To ensure our customers get the most from their visits by actively promoting our forthcoming productions and events, membership scheme and pre-show dining offers.
To help increase donations to The Exeter Northcott Theatre Charity by requesting and securing donations.
To help improve our customer's experience by collating customer feedback and operational issues and sharing with managers.
To provide Box Office cover for performances in the theatre and any outside venues or promoters that we sell tickets for, sometimes at short notice.
To keep the box office space welcoming and tidy, keeping flyer racks and pinboards up to date and replenished as necessary.
To monitor the box office inbox and respond to or field customer queries.
To be aware of and actively promote Exeter Northcott Theatre's Membership and discount schemes.
To act as receptionists for the Exeter Northcott Theatre offices and assist with answering the general enquiries telephone line when possible.
To be responsible for checking and balancing personal float before and after shifts.
To be well informed about all shows and related activities the Box Office sells tickets for, in and out of the Exeter Northcott and Barnfield Theatres.
To work as part of a team and also under your own initiative when required.
To inform the Data & Ticketing Manager, or deputy of any problems or any unfinished transactions which need further attention.
To chase reservations for payment and help clear any outstanding queries.

Person Specification

Essential:
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work efficiently
A common-sense approach to work with the ability to learn and adapt to basic IT software (training on all our software will be given)
Excellent written communication skills. This includes the ability to create and send clear customer-friendly emails with accurate information, using good English.
Excellent verbal interpersonal and communication skills. This includes the ability to communicate clearly and spontaneously with customers over the phone and in person and an ability to adapt your communication style to the individual customer and situation.
An ability to deliver excellent customer service
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel to a basic standard to record information
Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure with background noise and interruptions
Reliable, adaptable and conscientious

Terms & Conditions
Salary:
12.21 per hour
Working Hours:
Casual - Zero hours contract
Working Pattern:
Flexible. Typical shifts include Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 2pm and/or 5pm-8pm and sometimes Mondays and Sundays.
Working Location:
Northcott Theatre, Barnfield Theatre & other locations as required
