About the role

Balfour Beatty is recruiting an experienced Bid Director to join our Major Projects business, with a particular focus on nuclear pursuits. As Bid Director, you will lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of opportunities and bids, ensuring that high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the Balfour Beatty Management System and best practice guidance.



You will establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with customers, partners and bid team.



We operate a smart working approach, with flexibility on location anywhere within the UK, and travel required.

What you'll be doing

Form relationships with the customer or their representatives to develop clear understanding of their requirements Lead and manage complex procurement processes such as competitive dialogue and in depth behavioural assessment for public and private sector clients Oversee and agree pursuit/bid strategy with senior management to secure profitable orders (to achieve bid targets as required by the business) Oversee and lead the preparation, coordination, and delivery of presentations to customers as required, to successfully secure orders Attendance at key customer meetings and industry events (e.g. bidder open days). Lead and manage the workload allocation of bid management resource within assigned bid teams (many of which will integrate across BB Group businesses and in some cases with external JV partners) Responsible for the establishment, management and maintenance of the approved bid budget Oversee the establishment, production and implementation of bid management processes Be aware of company best practice and promote innovation within bids across the business stream Liaise with co-sponsors and internal bid steering committee for large and multiple bids, including preparation of Gate papers Lead the presentation of Tender Settlement meetings for large and multiple bids and obtain approvals Lead the handover of secured business Lead the establishment and maintenance of a Project Risk Register Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent Live the Balfour Beatty Values Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm Support the delivery of CSUK's Sustainability activities

Who we're looking for

Previous experience of managing bid services within the construction, engineering or related industries Previous experience of managing joint venture relationships, leading steering committees and managing internal and external stakeholders through governance gates to support and gain sign off for the opportunity Some understanding of the principles of framework procurement and experience within the most current forms of procurement Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure. Customer centric in approach, with the ability to recognise potential opportunities in invitations to tender A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the relevant business.
