Brief Description

Within this role you will provide management of the benchmarking information and support systems for Network Rail\'s Investment and Capital Delivery organisation to provide insights & knowledge to internal and external customers and stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business. This role will be suitable for professionals with either Estimating, Cost Planning or Quantity Surveying background. Knowledge of Power BI will be beneficial for this role.

About the role (External)

As a Benchmarking Manager in Capital Delivery, you will:

\xc2\xb7 Manage the peer relationship and exchanges of information in line with agreements, with government and other external stakeholders, to allow effective sharing and receipt of appropriate benchmark information, supporting the internal and external comparative evaluation of Rail Investment Capital Delivery activities.

\xc2\xb7 Manage the update of the benchmarking measures utilised in the Rail Investment benchmarking Policy, working with the regional and functional owners including supply chain partners, so measures are appropriate, effective, and support effective evaluation and decision making across the business.

Essential criteria

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of construction industry capital investment and delivery processes;

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrable knowledge of benchmarking principles, practices and systems;

\xc2\xb7 Proven ability to engage with and influence multiple stakeholders across a range of technical and non-technical areas to support effective delivery and insight;

\xc2\xb7 Degree or equivalent qualification, or experience, in a numerate discipline

\xc2\xb7 Excellent analytical skills, including the use of statistical techniques, associated computer systems and effective presentation of results

Desirable criteria

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrable understanding of rail industry processes related to the planning and funding of enhancements;

\xc2\xb7 Understanding of the Railway Infrastructure, topography and asset types;

\xc2\xb7 Familiarity with and understanding of the regulatory regime and the associated challenges and constraints;

\xc2\xb7 Member of a related professional body e.g. RICS, ICE, APM.
