About Us
Diamond Light Source is the UK\'s national synchrotron source and a leading scientific facility of its type in the world. Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in South Oxfordshire, we enable cutting edge research across a broad range of scientific disciplines and industrial applications.
About the Role
The XPDF (I15-1) Beamline at Diamond Light Source is the first dedicated X-ray Pair Distribution Function instrument of its kind in Europe. This beamline performs experiments to study the local structure of materials from a vast range of scientific fields such as catalysis, energy materials, and pharmaceuticals. The beamline has recently received a major upgrade with a high-throughput robotic sample changer and a bespoke optimised detector which is currently undergoing commissioning.
We are seeking a Beamline Scientist with a strong background in local structure analysis and experience with PDF analysis software, such as PDFgui, DiffPy-CMI, TOPAS, RMCProfile, EPSR or Dissolve. The scientist is expected to contribute to the technical development of the beamline, assist in the installation and commissioning of beamline components, to provide user support, and to carry out research in areas relevant to the beamline.
