Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and passionate foodie to join our team. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of food preparation and safety, with a desire to learn and grow in a creative role. This role requires excellent time management skills and basic maths abilities to ensure precise measurements and consistent quality in all products. Training is provided, but an ideal candidate will be interested in developing their skills and understanding in their own time, bringing into work ideas to try in a collaborative space.

First and foremost, please be sound. We're all going to be spending a lot of time together, so we want to all get along and have a good shift. Managing stress at busy times is a big must, and the busy times will always come to an end! We want to look after eachother, caffeinate and feed eachother, while ensuring the customers have a good time while we're at it.

The role will also include the making and serving of drinks and cakes within the cafe, with space to work with coworkers to make seasonal specials. The cafe is a busy place, and we have lots of plans to develop this year, as we have taken on the property next door for additional baking and prep, so someone with experience and the ability to work independently will thrive.

Duties



Prepare and bake a wide range of products, including bread, pastries, and cakes. Some pastry lamination experience would be a plus. Some sourdough experience woule be a plus but not essential. This role involves early starts as part of a regular schedule. Follow recipes accurately to maintain consistency in taste and presentation. Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to during the preparation and baking processes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the baking area, including equipment and utensils. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages as needed. Assist in the development of new recipes and menu items based on seasonal ingredients or customer preferences. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods.

Qualifications



Proven experience as a Baker or in a similar role is preferred but not essential for enthusiastic candidates willing to learn. Food safety qualifications desired but not essential. Basic maths skills for accurate measurement of ingredients. Excellent time management skills to meet production deadlines efficiently. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. A passion for baking and creativity in developing new recipes is highly desirable.
