- Traffic Controller / Banksman


Location:

Hamilton Waste & Recycling Ltd

Hours:

Full-time, Monday to Friday (typically 7:00am-4:30pm), with occasional Saturday mornings and overtime as required

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor PPE compliance among drivers and contractors. Maintain high levels of communication with site management to ensure clear understanding and execution of instructions. Promptly report any concerns or issues to your Line Manager. Oversee the timely emptying of bins/skips and ensure effective traffic management across the site. Adhere to all site safety protocols including PPE usage, emergency procedures, and reporting requirements. Ensure the working environment remains clean, tidy, and hazard-free, with safe storage of materials at all times. Inspect loads for contamination, recording and managing any findings in line with procedures. Guide vehicles to the correct tipping zones and manage plant/HGV movement safely and efficiently. Operate radios and maintain effective communication on site. Accurately complete and check relevant paperwork (e.g., waste transfer notes, contamination reports). Report any breaches by drivers or operators and liaise effectively with the weighbridge office and site management. Attend all required training, both internal and external.
You may also be asked to carry out additional duties not specifically outlined above, in line with business needs.

Essential Criteria:



Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices. Proven experience in a similar environment or role. Capable of working independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Competent in using tablets and willing to learn internal systems. Able to manage workloads and meet deadlines effectively. Basic education (GCSEs, Standard Grades or equivalent). Good standard of spoken and written English.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:



Qualifications in Waste Management Operations. Vehicle Banksman qualification. Own transport due to site location.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 13.50 per hour
