This role is for a skilled and experienced accountant seeking a position beyond that of a normal NHS finance role. The individual will be responsible for supervising and hands on delivery of timely, complete, and accurate results, plans,, insights and support on the finances and accounts of the Private Patients Unit (PPU) at the Royal Free NHS FT. This includes implementation of the financial close/period end processes, management accounts preparation/presentation, budgeting/forecasting, finance business partnering, costing , pricing/tariff analysis including price quotations support (Self pay, Private Medical Insurance & Embassy), team supervision/management and day to day financial support with patient/payer/provider matters. The individual will be a senior member of the PPU finance team and will report to the Associate Director of Commercial Finance.

To lead and take complete ownership of the month end process for the Private Patients Unit, ensuring the financial position is complete and accurate and finalised in a timely manner. This includes preparing all journals, prepayments, accruals etc.
To prepare appropriate financial reports to set timelines with written analysis / commentaries for the various service line senior managers enabling them to manage their areas of the business, analysing reasons for under / over performance and ensuring that the likely full year outcome is well explained.
To manage all costing and pricing activities for the Private Patients unit, including proposals for new business and ongoing service pricing.
Oversee the management of Private Medical Insurance (PMI), self-pay, and embassy tariffs, actively contributing to contract negotiations.
To provide direct line manage the credit control, treasury and billing supervisors ensuring all deadlines are met whilst completing work to a high standard
To business partner with other departments within PPU and the Trust and to help teams manage their budgets.
To lead budget holder meetings ensuring the department fully understands their budgets, expenditure and income.
To manage and oversee day to day patient and consultant related queries
