Job Title: Backend Developer
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (09:00-17:00), 36.25 hours per week
Salary: up to \xc2\xa350,000 with up to 20% bonus and benefits
Location: Flexible - Embrace fully remote or hybrid work from any of our vibrant UK offices in London, Cardiff, Durham, Manchester, or Blackpool.

The main purpose of the role is to maintain and develop crucial components and new features of the Savings offering of Tandem Bank.

You will collaborate within a tight-knit team of 4-5 developers. We work in two-week sprints with small and frequent releases.

Your Impact: Building a greener tomorrow

As a Backend Developer at Tandem your focus will be on:

• Designing and developing software with a focus on maintainability and scalability.
• Implementing Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices to ensure reliable code.
• Breaking down project requirements into manageable user stories.
• Contributing to Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Proactively identifying and resolving bugs and issues in the codebase.
• Driving positive changes and enhancements to improve system performance.
• Upholding high standards of code quality and consistency through peer code reviews

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in .NET for developing robust and scalable backend solutions.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET Web API to build RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in C# for crafting clean and efficient code.
• Familiarity with containerization using Docker for scalable deployment.
• Proficiency in working with MySQL databases.
• Knowledge of xUnit or other test framework for writing unit tests to ensure code reliability.
• Understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles for building domain-specific architectures.
• Experience with Event-Driven architecture for real-time processing and communication.

We\'d love to hear from you if you have:

• An understanding of compliance and security requirements for financial applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize performance-critical components.
• Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) for building scalable and resilient systems.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture to facilitate modular and maintainable code.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for scalable deployment.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

It would be great, but not essential if you have:

• Previous work experience in the financial industry or with fintech companies, particularly in the savings domain.
• Contribution to open-source projects related to backend development or financial technologies.
• Proficiency in other programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) for versatile problem-solving.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
