Associate Principal / Principal Process Chemist

This is an opportunity to join an established South Wales based CRO who work to innovate pharmaceutical R&D processes. Working across the breadth of chemistry the company is a leader in the manufacturing and life-cycle management area of small molecule therapeutics. This role will be responsible for overcoming process development issues supporting strategic direction and interacting directly with customers to deliver project outcomes. The idea candidate will possess a background in chemistry \'\xc2\x93 ideally organic chemistry or biochemistry - with in-depth industry experience in the design of drug substance processes.

What you\'ll be doing:

  • Overseeing and managing capability build activities and training/development for the science team dedicated to drug substance process design.
  • Liaising with Technical Directors to help operationalise process design methods. Contributing ideas and thoughts to business cases around how improvements will contribute to the achievement of business goals.
  • Developing and sharing new knowledge and technology within the area of process design.
  • Working directly on customer projects focused on process design.
  • Providing technical guidance challenge and problem solving to customer projects focused on process design and supporting/writing proposals for new projects. Direct customer interactions.
  • Advocate and provide training on the use of new technology process improvements and for the application of digital design approaches.
  • Comply with all appropriate Safety Health & Environment quality and compliance standards as well as ensure team are meeting the same standards.
  • Identify areas of scientific and commercial growth and improvement within the process design and development teams.
What experience you will need to apply:
  • PhD (or Masters significant experience) in Chemistry with significant experience in Process Chemistry \'\xc2\x93 retrosynthesis preferred.
  • Management and leadership capability.
  • Demonstrable examples of creative problem solving as applied to the design of drug substance processes.
  • An in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience of the drug substance manufacturing process design.
  • Demonstrated experience in using a mixture of scientific leadership coaching training and mentoring to support less experienced colleagues in navigating the experimental design to project decision cycle.
  • Experience of leveraging professional network to create value for customers and improve outcomes.
  • Significant experience of holding self and others accountable for the achievement of performance expectations. Also showing commitment to professional improvement of self and others.
  • Displays a commitment to the wellbeing of self and others.

Salary of \xc2\xa345000-65000 depending on level of experience and whether it would be Associate Principal or Principal level role.
