Job Description

OT for Kids is part of Tx Group, an organisation providing over 20 high quality and bespoke professional therapy services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, educational and clinical psychology, orthotics, prosthetics, podiatry, sports performance therapy and pilates.

OT for Kids provide bespoke occupational therapy services to children within the home, clinic and school setting. OT for Kids promise to be purposeful, reliable, open, motivating and effective in the assessments, treatments and other services they provide. OT for Kids aim to make a positive difference in every child, parent, teacher, school and organisation they work with. The occupational therapists and admin staff at OT for Kids are passionate, enthusiastic and engaging and are keen to promote evidence based practice and the benefits of occupational therapy.

OT for Kids have exciting opportunities for associate paediatric occupational therapists to work with children with a range of difficulties including sensory processing disorder, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, development delay, dyspraxia, cerebral palsy, attention deficit disorder and acquired brain injury. We anticipate a associate paediatric occupational therapist will work within our central clinics, schools and also clients home to provide high quality assessments and treatments. Associate paediatric occupational therapists provide a range of treatments including sensory integration therapy, gross and fine motor activity training, handwriting improvement therapy and confidence improvement therapy.

What does it take to be successful in this role?



To be successful in this role you would need to:

Provide a high-quality service to children of all ages. Be passionate about working with infants, children, and young people. Train other therapists, parents and carers to effectively deliver appropriate therapeutic intervention. Be able to consider the holistic needs of each child when working to achieve the child's goals and aspirations. Negotiate change with patients to enable them to achieve targets, overcoming barriers to change including environmental and social factors. Work effectively with a team of other allied health professionals and be available to give and receive support and advice when required. Develop a strong rapport with children, families and other allied health professionals. Act as a champion for the service and occupational therapy as a profession.

The ideal candidate:



The successful applicant must meet the following requirements:

Completed a HCPC registered occupational therapy degree (2:2 or above). Registration with the HCPC and RCOT. Experience of working with children with mental health issues, emotional problems and complex needs. Trained in Sensory Integration would be beneficial however not a requirement Demonstrate strong evidence of continued professional development. Experience of report writing. Experience working with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team. Willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check. Willing to work weekends and evenings

The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills allowing efficient and effective interaction with children, parents, schools and other therapists. They will be empathetic and understanding allowing them to communicate sensitive information. They will have excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills and will be able to work independently but also as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Our ideal candidate will be keen to promote evidence-based practice and be able to give evidence to justify treatment choice if challenged. They will have knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and its implications for clinical practice and competent IT skills.
