Mace Placemaking, part of Mace Consult is a specialist urban design, architectural and landscape team. We deliver projects nationally for both public and private sectors including government departments, local authorities and private developers. The team is a core part of Mace\xe2\x80\x99s Local Government and Communities business line for the UK and Europe, although there are opportunities to work across the business in the UK and globally. Our work includes town centre frameworks, site development strategies and bringing forward new communities.
The opportunity is for a senior urban design position at Associate Director grade to join their growing business. The role will be part of the Placemaking team and will be involved in its future direction and growth. Project: This is a strategic hire for the business to set up an urban design team in the Manchester office to support the company\xe2\x80\x99s growth in the north of England. The candidate should have a pipeline of work or strong client relationships to support the teams existing projects and grow the offer. The role will be to lead on multiple public sector projects such as town centre regeneration frameworks and large site master planning with an aim to build a team across our north of England offices, although initially working with the London team to support projects.
The candidate must be a thought leader in design quality with strong interest and evidenced work in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies. This should be evidenced through climate resilient design. They should be able to independently design and communicate large scale master planning comprising mixed use development and with a good understanding of urban and suburban residential development. The candidate should also ideally have an understanding of, and experience in, resident/community engagement. Knowledge of estate regeneration would also be useful.
We expect the candidate to possess high quality graphic capability with excellent report writing using plain English. The candidate much also be aware of the potential for BIM and illustrate embedding it into their work.
