Due to exceptional growth in demand for our ESG advisory services we are currently recruiting for an Associate Director to join our Carbon & ESG practice. We support clients to understand their existing and emerging risks and opportunities for their organisation and commercial strategy, including operations, investments, supply chain, and end markets, to develop an appropriate response to these factors and incorporate within business planning, to measure progress achieved in strategy implementation and performance, and to disclose on their ESG programme and outcomes.

Our Carbon & ESG practice has a well-deserved reputation with FTSE100 and Fortune500 clients, governments, financial institutions, infrastructure owners and operators for Net Zero Resilience and ESG technical advisory services. We support clients to understand their existing and emerging risks and opportunities for their organisation and commercial strategy, including operations, investments, supply chain, and end markets, to develop an appropriate response to these factors and incorporate within business planning, to measure progress achieved in strategy implementation and performance, and to disclose on their ESG programme and outcomes.

We also help clients with climate change adaptation and resilience, climate change and water risk assessment, net zero planning, major project preparation, and capacity-building. Our work provides clients with greater confidence in decision making, business planning and operation of major projects, individual assets, multinational portfolios, and cities. The practice works across a wide range of sectors including industrials, manufacturing, FMCG, chems/pharmas, financial services, highways, rail, aviation, power, carbon capture and storage, water utilities and urban regeneration.

Role

We are seeing an increase in demand for ESG advisory services. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:

• Strengthen our position as a leader in ESG advisory services for business, finance, and infrastructure clients in the UK and across the European region.
• Develop our ESG service offerings with practical and viable solutions for clients.
• Contribute to the delivery of our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the ESG advisory market by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across the European.
• Lead and deliver commercially successful projects that maintain the high-quality professional outputs that we are known for.
• Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on climate change resilience and adaptation.
• You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development with training and support for chartership.

The successful candidate(s) will be part of the Carbon & ESG leadership and be expected to work collaboratively to lead and deliver a range of ESG, climate change, and sustainability projects for multi-national businesses and investors local, regional, and national governments, as well as supporting senior AECOM leaders in the wider Environment, Water and Energy end markets. Qualifications

We welcome applications from those with track records in ESG advisory services and experienced in:

• Identifying corporate obligations within the global sustainability landscape, including different stakeholders and their interests, reporting and transparency trends and evolving legislation.
• Assessing ESG risks and identifying and implementing mitigation solutions across a range of sectors and scales, from strategic business wide approaches to individual sites and/or activities.
• Applying sustainability reporting frameworks and standards including GRI, Integrated Reporting, SASB, TCFD, and TNFD among others.
• Developing sustainable procurement procedures and systems.
• Conducting ESG due diligence for transactions and compliance purposes.
• Working with and advising senior management and Executive Committee members.
• Implementing ESG strategy and programmes.
• A desire to deliver technical excellence.
• A solution-oriented self-starter who can design and deliver work under own initiative.
• Commercial awareness for technical delivery, business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.
• Strong industry profile with experience presenting at conferences and publishing knowledge products in professional journals or other channels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Fluency in other languages an advantage.
