With a focus on Energy Networks, Major Infrastructure Development and integrated project management, you will play a key role in leading and growing the Energy Advisory business and supporting clients in the development and delivery of projects and initiatives that will drive towards a net zero future. Our clients include national utility organisations such as National Grid as well as private developers and investors looking to contribute to decarbonisation of the sector. We are particularly focused on the development phases of projects and programmes which include co-ordination and management of multi-disciplinary activities across engineering, design, planning, consenting, environmental assessment and stakeholder management.The roleAs a senior leader within the Arup organisation, the role of an Associate Director in the Energy Advisory business is to drive, challenge and successfully deliver complex energy projects and provide advice to clients using best practice Programme and Project Management knowledge and advisory skills. Your typical activities and responsibilities will include:xc2xb7 Building managing and maintaining positive client relationships; generating new work and delivering against business plans.xc2xb7 Being the accountable Project Director on complex or high-profile major infrastructure projects and programmes. Leading teams of multi-disciplinary specialist engineers, planners and technical experts to provide a joined up xe2x80x98One Arup offering to support positive outcomes for clients.xc2xb7 Staff recruitment and development. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.Is this role right for you?This position offers scope for personal development, and we encourage independent thinking, focusing on developing existing skills and experience, and the sharing of these experiences with other team members.You will be able to demonstrate your understanding, skill, and experience in the following areas:xc2xb7 Significant background of working in the Energy industry with preference for knowledge of Networks businesses and leadership in developing Energy infrastructure projects.xc2xb7 Knowledge of UK planning (DCO and TCPA) process and requirements, as well as application across major projects.xc2xb7 Strong commercial insight for assessing key value drivers for projects.xc2xb7 Building strong and trusted relationships at all levels within an organisation and have exceptional stakeholder management skills (both internally and externally)xc2xb7 Delivering positive results against a business plan.xc2xb7 Management of complex high-risk projects and programmes, including advice related to the establishment of project delivery arrangements and governance.xc2xb7 Ability to get things done through others; leading multi-disciplinary project teams of 10 or more and being responsible for achieving plans and targets set by you for the team.xc2xb7 Assessing real world project scenarios in line with your experience across several key PM dimensions e.g., Governance, Control, Risk, Stakeholders, Finance and Resources.xc2xb7 Drawing on ideas from diverse experiences and project managing the development or delivery of new services.xc2xb7 Integration of a range of digital tools in delivery of projects and services.xc2xb7 Making use of a strong external network of industry contacts to build project or company visibility and credibility. Shaping and influencing the views and opinions of others whilst maintaining positive engagement and team, stakeholder and client relationships.Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a good first degree in a relevant subject.
  • Chartered professional in a relevant profession.
  • In depth knowledge of the energy sector generally and network and energy infrastructure development specifically.
