About Us

Hightown is a charitable housing association operating principally in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. We believe everyone should have a home and the support they need, so our aim is to build new homes and to provide excellent housing and support.

About the Role

We currently have opportunities for full time and part time Assistant Support Workers to join our supported living scheme, Pennyfields, in Sandhurst. At Pennyfields we provide support for 4 men, with a learning disability or Autism, who live communally.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide support to the men with their daily living to increase their levels of independence. This involves a small amount of personal care but mainly focuses on helping to promote life skills such as shopping, managing budgets, cooking and housework. You will also support the men to gain skills akin to looking for work and gaining independence in the community.

Our service users are very active and like to attend various activities such as meals out, bowling and the cinema, as well as day trips and potentially holidays.

You`ll joina supportive teamwith a`can do` attitudewho engage with our residents to follow agreed support plans and risk assessments, to ensure that we are providing a service that meets each individual`s needs, supports their aspirations and maximises their independence.

You do not need sector experience as we provide a structured introduction and comprehensive training to support you with your role. You will have the opportunity to gain an accredited vocational qualification if you wish to.

About You

We are looking for passionate people with an active attitude who are driven by the desire to make a difference.

You will need to be able to work shifts as part of a rota system which may include weekend and bank holiday working. We can accommodate full and part time hours.

You must be able to work as part of a team to deliver an excellent service to the people we support and be flexible in your approach to work. You will have a commitment to equality and diversity and take a positive approach to supporting people with learning disabilities.

Experience is desirable but not essential.
