Based in the Department of Statistics, the post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities.
Applications for this new post are invited from outstanding candidates in the field of data science, with a focus on its computational, machine learning, or computational statistics aspects. Successful candidates will join an established and successful department and contribute to its research and teaching in data science. The post is tenable from 1st September 2024.
You should have an established track record of research at a level of international excellence as well as a completed (or nearly completed) PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics or other related area. You will maintain an active research programme and contribute to the general work of the department, including teaching of computing and machine learning courses. In particular, the teaching may include courses on the MSc in Data Science and the BSc in Data Science programmes, both run by the Department of Statistics. Candidates should have experience of undertaking research on data science methodology, with a focus on its computational, machine learning, or computational statistics aspects. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment in the . Data science is a key priority area in the , which provides exciting opportunities for creating new initiatives, collaborations, and making an impact in this area.
