Rohan is a leading outdoor company who loves creating high quality products. We have an exciting opportunity within our busy Product Team, based at our Head Office in Milton Keynes for an Assistant Material Technologist looking to work across outdoor apparel and accessories, covering multiple product categories including waterproof jackets, walking trousers, and active jersey tops.

This role would suit a graduate or similar, looking for their first role within a garment or fabric textiles team.

The role

The Assistant Materials Technologist will support the Materials Team, from initial concept through to production of fabrics, trims, labelling, and packaging for Rohan, on time and in line with agreed strategy to ensure maximised profit margins while maintaining the Rohan brand and quality standards.

Key Objectives

• Support the Product and Materials Teams on developing and delivering leading performance materials aligned to seasonal briefs.
• Conduct market research and insights around new innovation in fibres, yarn, and materials
• Ensure that allocated work and projects meet Rohan performance attributes, testing, and sustainability.
• Inputting accurate material information into our files and systems
• Maintain and collate commercial and technical specification sheets
• Maintain the filing, archiving, and library of materials
• Develop and maintain expertise in the latest developments of materials, with a clear understanding of the finished products to support the team in selecting the best fabric for the finished product
• Ensure suppliers have accurate information to allow them to deliver materials to meet the Rohan standards
• Track and document testing and quality processes to meet compliance and legislation guidelines.
• Ensure products and work is delivered according to the seasonal calendar and highlight instances of potential risks
• Continuously develop understanding and adherence to the critical path avoiding surcharges and delivery issues.
• Support the team on the tracking and implementation of seasonal targets for recycled and other sustainable materials
• Support Team to research and prepare for meetings and presentations and follow up actions and documentation.
• Participate in weekly reviews
• Build strong relationships with cross functional partners and key stakeholders.
