Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team at our 37 year old bakery store in Gants Hill. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional service. This role is pivotal in supporting the daily operations of our business, ensuring that both staff and guests have a positive experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure that all customers receive outstanding service through friendly engagement, professional interactions, and an inviting atmosphere. Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the shop and outside seating areas to enhance the customer experience. Ensure the shop, and products reflect high standards of presentation and consistency. Lead, motivate, and manage team members to deliver high performance in a positive working environment. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, regularly conducting checks to maintain standards. Ensure that staff are knowledgeable in the bakery's products, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods, enabling them to confidently assist customers. Ensure that product displays and the overall layout of the shop are visually appealing, restocking as necessary and adjusting based on customer trends. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bakery, kitchen, and shop, ensuring smooth workflow between departments. Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to optimise efficiency.

Experience

Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food retail or hospitality industry is essential. Strong understanding of food safety standards and practices. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
