As assistant manager of our exciting food and drink business the Devonshire, you will be responsible for numerous aspects of the day to day running of the operation including front-of-house, cellar management, managing and maintaining an efficient team, submitting paper work to our finance manager, stock control and ultimately ensuring excellent customers service is delivered at all times in the absence of the General Manager. Additional duties include reporting maintenance issues, upholding the appearance of the site and it's outside areas, collecting material for social media and assisting with development of the business and the team.
Our guests will expect a lot from us and you are a leader at the forefront when it comes to delivering exceptional customer service. From guest experience right through to the health and safety to compliance of the site, you are there to ensure we excel in all areas.
Responsibilities
Ensure every guest interaction is ultra-positive and with the intention of getting them to have a return visit.
Undertake all General Manager responsibilities where relevant/needed in their absence.
Lead by example at all times.
Always follow the induction procedure when onboarding new team members.
Demand only the best guest experience and use the tools available to you in order to achieve this.
Liaise with the General Manager and the owners to ensure good training practices are being implemented and followed.
Ensure our administration department is kept up to date with training, absences, lateness, holidays etc.
Along with the general manager ensure the site is always fully compliant in line with Health & Safety and EHO objectives.
As Assistant Manager, you'll need to carry out the following duties with your manager and front of house team:
Interact with customers (including serving their food and drink) & ensure our high standards of customer service are maintained throughout their visit.
Take responsibility for pub safety & security, including recruitment & management of security of staff.
Collect and act on customer feedback to improve the overall running of the pub.
Undertake regular stock checks, place orders with suppliers and restock (which involves physical work)
Ensure regular maintenance of the premises, including cleaning & note and report any repairs
Ensure a safe, secure & legal working environment
Skills
You'll need to have:
A good background in customer service at a managerial level and experience of working in a bar or restaurant.
Working knowledge of cellar management and cask ale conditioning.
The ability to meet targets.
Excellent staff management and leadership skills, plus excellent communication and social skills.
Knowledge of products we will be serving.
An understanding of relevant legislations.
