Working as part of Vice Chancellors Office, you will support the Health and Safety Advisor (Central HSS) in promoting and advising the University on matters of health and safety; Helping the University meet and surpass their statutory obligations for health and safety, ensuring a safe working environment and maintaining the wellbeing of staff, students, contractors and visitors in support of the University\'s Corporate Strategy

This role gives an opportunity to experience a wide variety of workplace activities and environments from Facilities Management to Science and Engineering, Education and Health and Liberal Arts and Sciences. The University is an exciting, constantly developing workplace, and the ability to provide pragmatic support in such an environment is essential.

You will be part of a small team providing advice, support and information to all staff at the University, assisting the faculty and professional services H&S posts holders in ensuring we meet our statutory obligations and responsibilities under the University health & safety management arrangements

You will be expected to promote a flexible, proactive and visible approach to all Health and Safety issues and encourage a positive attitude towards Health and Safety throughout the university.

To be successful in this role you will have a broad understanding of workplace Health and Safety, including knowledge of the UK legislation and enforcement system. You will have a relevant recognised qualification, to the minimum standard of NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent. You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work both on your own initiative and collaboratively within the team.
