Bridgemary School, a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Gosport, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our dynamic Senior Leadership Team. This pivotal role holds responsibility for leading our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision as our SENDCo, and for driving the strategic development of reading across the school.
As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of all our students, ensuring that those with SEND receive the highest quality support and that literacy is at the heart of our curriculum. You will lead and manage our dedicated SEND team, working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to create a truly inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing the school's SEND policy, overseeing the identification and assessment of students with SEND, and ensuring the effective provision of appropriate support and interventions. You will also be instrumental in developing and embedding a whole-school approach to reading, fostering a culture of literacy and ensuring students develop the skills and confidence to become lifelong readers.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and qualified teacher with a proven track record of effective leadership and management. You will possess a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate others. A relevant SEND qualification (e.g., National Award for SEN Coordination) is a requirement.
As an Assistant Headteacher you will form part of a dedicated team, contributing to the strategic leadership of the school having input on all aspects of school life.
