We are looking for an Assistant Editor to join us at Express Online. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior journalist to take on one of the biggest jobs in UK digital journalism.

We\'re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.

Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?

You will help oversee all aspects of the website, focusing on engaging content day-to-day, choosing the best stories and liaising with all departments to create a dynamic and diverse website while managing staff and projects confidently as and when required. Growing our digital audience will be your top priority - and you\'ll be passionate about doing it.

You will coordinate digital conferences and represent the department, work with other editorial leaders and ensure all content is legally and IPSO compliant while taking an interest in development of staff and ensure the department\'s culture is open and inclusive.

The Ideal Candidate

Who are we looking for?

An experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and exceptional media law knowledge. You will be a capable, assured and experienced digital media expert and will have worked at a national or major regional level before. You will manage a talented, driven team with ease, and be able to support and direct in a pressured and frequently changing environment.

You have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news along with a genuine passion for breaking stories and to present them in the best possible way across multiple platforms.
