The Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. You will support the Senior Buyer and wider procurement function in sourcing and purchasing materials and components essential to our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the procurement of steel, fittings, and other construction-related materials
Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, manage lead times, and negotiate pricing
Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier information
Support inventory management and monitor stock levels
Help identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies
Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental standards
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the construction or engineering sector
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar)
Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
A proactive and team-oriented approach
Desirable:
CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
Understanding of steelwork and construction materials
