Assistant Accountant (with Payroll)

Job Description


Successful medium size International manufacturing business based in Byfleet, Surrey. Reporting to the Finance Manager, as an Assistant Accountant, you will have an extremely varied role within a small Accounts Team. You will take ownership of day-to-day accounting functions to support the Finance Manager in ensuring department responsibilities and deadlines are met. You will also be responsible for all aspects of the Payroll process, start to finish. Scope to learn and progress, this role would suit a highly organised individual with a passion for all things financial. Responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Ownership of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s payroll from start to finish. This includes setting up new joiners, reconciling weekly attendance reports, recording overtime, sickness and annual leave, calculating staff bonuses and commission, managing the Company\xe2\x80\x99s legal duties with PAYE and NI processes, preparing P60s, P11Ds and P45/46, ensuring pension/auto-enrolment requirements are met, right through to journal entry. \xc2\xb7 Maintaining holiday and sickness records and working with HR to ensure that employee data is correct. \xc2\xb7 Full responsibility for the accounting processes for one or more of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s overseas subsidiaries. \xc2\xb7 Manage and process staff expenses and company credit card expenses ensuring that all entries are accurately recorded and in compliance with VAT regulations. \xc2\xb7 Produce monthly sales reports. \xc2\xb7 Backup for the Sales & Purchase Ledger person to cover holidays/absence. \xc2\xb7 Further develop analysis and reports to support the growth of the business. \xc2\xb7 Be part of the Project Team for ongoing system upgrades. Experience \xc2\xb7 Payroll processing experience is a must in this role (IRIS Payroll distinct advantage). \xc2\xb7 Part qualified accountant and/or proven experience in similar role. \xc2\xb7 Sage 200 (or Sage products) would definitely be an advantage. \xc2\xb7 Intermediate to advanced excel skills essential. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate at all levels within the organisation. With an ability to manage your time successfully to meet deadlines, you will possess a can-do attitude and be happy to help other departments across the business to ensure goals are met.
