Main Purpose of Role
We have a permanent opportunity for someone to join our RTR Team. This role provides the successful candidate with a great opportunity to attain an accounting qualification within a dynamic and professional organisation while at the same time gaining significant and varied experience within an industry environment.
Reporting to the RTR Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Month End Close accounting process relating to the Commercial Functions (Selling, After Sales Support, Marketing and R&D). The ideal candidate will be proactive, flexible, pay attention to detail and be well organised. Good communication skills along with excellent time management skills are essential along with a strong commercial interest and the ambition to pursue a successful career in Finance.
Key Accountabilities
Support the preparation of monthly Accruals/Prepayments, Journals and Balance sheet reconciliations relating to the 'Commercial Functions' GL codes
Reconcile Intercompany accounts, to tight deadlines, and compile Cognos upload
Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate any payments not recognised by AR/AP
Supporting actual cash flow comparisons to forecast
Supplier bank detail verifications
Support daily accounting transactions
Perform ad hoc reviews for unusual or suspicious transactions and conduct follow up on such issues until resolution
Escalation of any unusual or exceptional items to the RTR Financial Accountant
Support the year end process as required
Liaise with the Commercial Finance Team and the Financial Reporting Team
Reporting on specific accounting related KPI's, metrics and SLA adherence
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to support system and process improvements for the month end close cycle
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
Part Qualified Accountant or minimum two years' experience working in a similar role
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work to tight deadline
Ability to work independently to analyse and solve problems
Excellent verbal & written capabilities
Proficiency in Excel
Exposure to an ERP system
Commitment to continuous improvement
Desirable Criteria
Educated to Degree level
Currently studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc)
Experience using SAP
