Job description
Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone? Then the Environment Agency (EA) is the organisation for you!
The new Water, Land & Biodiversity (WLB) Asset Management Teams aim to improve management of WLB assets by implementing an asset management system that provides the framework, systems and processes for a whole lifecycle approach to the management of our assets, ensuring they are safe, effective and resilient and that our future investment requirements are fully understood.
Managing data about our assets is key to our vision of world class asset management. To achieve this, we need accurate and reliable asset data and information. To this end, we have just moved to a new asset management database - AIMS:OM (Asset Information Management System, Operations and Maintenance) - which will transform how assets are currently managed within WLB.
This role will include:
Cleansing of data post migration into AIMS:OM asset management database.
Setting up of recurring maintenance activities and inspections
Supporting ways to improve sustainability and resilience of assets by improving the data
Potential for infrequent site visits whilst working with asset management colleagues or for data verification.
The team
Reporting to the WLB Asset Management Team Leader, you will work with a range of colleagues from asset management both in Area and National, including teams such as Hydrometry and Telemetry, Groundwater and Contaminated Land, Hydrology, Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology. There may be a need for joined up working with colleagues from other business functions. You will form part of a national community of practice for asset management.
Experience/skills required Good communication skills
Able to develop and maintain good relationships
Ability to collate and interpret different sources of data in an accurate and efficient manner.
Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
Work under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve outcomes
Organisational skills and an ability to use systems and applications
Have an eye for detail, be efficient and able to persevere with tasks.
You will be required to work alone so a good knowledge of health & safety is essential. You should be happy to work outside, in challenging weather conditions, all year round. Experience in asset management and maintenance/project work is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
