\xc2\xb7 West Coast South Route, covering the south of Crewe to London Euston.
There is also a Regional Team which supports Regional Major Programmes & Professional services.

Brief Description
What will you be doing?
Provide a comprehensive [Contact Systems] engineering support service to NW&C region, focussed on delivery units within West Coast South route. Assist in managing the performance and condition of electrical assets across the route.
You will be working as part of the West Coast South Route (Northwest and Central Region) Principal Route Engineering team covering the South of Crewe to London Euston. The primary base for this role is Birmingham.
About the role (External)
Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
1. Assist in providing assurance as to whether Contact Systems engineering maintenance regimes for West Coast South route delivery units are being followed in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications.
2. Support the provision of a [Contact Systems] engineering support service focussed on West Coast South route delivery units.
3. Support the provision of technical briefings associated with Contact Systems to engineers within the West Coast South route delivery units in order that the purpose, as well as the content of standards, specification, etc. is understood.
4. Monitor the technical competence of engineers associated with Contact Systems in West Coast South route delivery units.
5. Review and comment on derogation and non-compliance applications to Contact Systems related standards.
6. Optimise engineering activity across the railway infrastructure system and identify critical technical problems.
7. Participate in investigations of incidents relating to asset failure.
8. Carry out Engineering verification activities and asset condition inspections that will inform the Contact Systems asset condition database and the renewals work bank.
9. Support the provision of advice and guidance to the delivery unit engineers in the production of business focussed renewals proposals.
10. Work with members of the asset management team to develop renewal and enhancement proposals.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
\xc2\xb7 HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
\xc2\xb7 Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
\xc2\xb7 Experience in Contact Systems engineering
\xc2\xb7 An understanding of the maintenance of Contact Systems assets
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
\xc2\xb7 Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
\xc2\xb7 Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
We would also like but it isn\'t crucial to have/to be:
\xc2\xb7 Degree in a relevant subject
\xc2\xb7 Incorporated or Chartered Engineer
\xc2\xb7 Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
\xc2\xb7 Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment
