An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing Advice and Prevention Team Meeting for a fixed term contract as an Assertive Move-On Officer.
The focus of the role is to promote, deliver and facilitate a programme of move on and resettlement solutions to support service users in order that they move on from supported and statutory Temporary Accommodation, into longer term sustainable and suitable housing in accordance with Welsh Government's aspiration of homelessness being 'rare, brief and unrepeated'.
To deliver case review guidance and training to housing support key workers to ensure understanding and practice of housing processes, Home Options and any barriers to move on.
To establish, develop and maintain professional relationships with a range of Newport City council colleagues, housing and housing support providers, statutory partners and other stakeholders.
To understand and promote the Council's objectives to prevent homelessness and the contribution Housing Support plays in this in accordance with the Welsh Government's aspiration of homelessness being 'rare, brief and unrepeated'.
The work will involve significant partnership working ie working with partner RSL's, both Housing and HSG colleagues, supporting service users, directly nominating homelessness or potentially homeless cases on the common housing register to our partner RSL's, addressing barriers that prevent move on to name but a few elements of the role.
Specifically, you will need to demonstrate a knowledge of homelessness, an understanding of housing allocations and previous support experience.
The role will be based at the Central Library Museum but will involve working agilely in the community with some home working.
