Role
Become an Archive Project Outreach Intern! Gain hands-on experience in delivering a public programme, both online and offline, in the cultural heritage sector. Work with the Regional Ethnology of Scotland Project\'s (RESP) Archive Project, and its online catalogue of over 1,300 oral histories. This role is paid at \xc2\xa314.11 per hour plus \xc2\xa32.31 per hour holiday pay.

This is an exciting opportunity to plan and deliver a programme of activities, events and promotional materials to support a new RESP online showcase exhibition. The intern will play a key part in project outreach activity and targets in 2023-2024, and will develop skills for a future career working in events, third sector, libraries, museums or archives. This role is a part-time, temporary role for a post-graduate University of Edinburgh student, for six months from November 2023, nine hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop a programme of promotional content for Heritage Collections marketing to promote a RESP online exhibition and the wider
collections. * Plan, promote, and deliver a series of activities and events to support the RESP Archive Project Showcase Exhibition.
  • Gather feedback and prepare event reports.
  • Work alongside the RESP Curatorial Intern to create content to be included in the exhibition.
  • Work with Archive & Museums professionals to create an engagement programme that promotes and enhances the existing RESP Project website and catalogue.
Skills and experience

Essential Criteria
  • A current University of Edinburgh student (this post is designated for the purposes of student employment; therefore, you must be a matriculated student for the duration of your employment).
  • Based in the UK for the duration of the work and able to work on-campus in Edinburgh.
  • A post-graduate student in a relevant field.
  • Experience using time management skills, initiative, and judgement in independent work.
  • A demonstrable ability to analyse and assess problems and identify solutions.
  • A history of excellent communication skills.
  • Experience running digital events.
  • Prior knowledge of social media marketing.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in archival collections and procedures.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of spoken word/oral history archives and related resources.
  • Experience or demonstrable interest in working in an archive, library or research environment or with heritage collections.
