Customised Sheet Metal is a sheet metal fabricating company, established over 30 years ago and based in Bridgend. We have a wide range of customers for whom we provide bespoke products. We work in a variety of materials for our fabrications including steel, aluminium, copper, brass and pewter and our products range from bar tops to brackets to warehouse trolleys.
We are looking for an apprentice who is enthusiastic, willing to learn and reliable. The apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication and welding will require 1 day in college and 4 days on the shop floor. You must be able to work as part of a team and on your own.
The role is ideal for individuals looking to develop essential skills in welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly.
The Role
This role will involve:
Learning to weld and fabricate components using sheet metal
Assisting in the operation of hand tools and power tools for various tasks
Performing MIG/TIG welding under supervision, ensuring adherence to safety standards
Maintaining a clean and organised workspace, ensuring tools and materials are stored correctly
Developing basic maths skills necessary for measurements and calculations
Learning to understand and interpret CAD drawings
Remuneration Package
This role will begin at a salary in line with Apprentice National Minimum Wage requirements and increment throughout the apprenticeship.

Structure of the Apprenticeship
The exact structure and content of the apprenticeship will vary depending on your past qualifications but will include college attendance at Pencoed College, and NVQ which is completed in the workplace and some development around literacy and numeracy at an appropriate level.
The successful applicant
You will have a minimum you must have 4 GCSE's, to include Maths and English.
You will be motivated to learn and have excellent discipline in the management of your learning and qualifications
You will be a natural self-starter, taking ownership of your performance and reputation in the workplace
Experience or qualifications in engineering or welding are not essential but may be beneficial to your application
