What will I learn through the apprenticeship programme?

With 30 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of delivering market-leading repairs and maintenance services, Mears is trusted to deliver more than 6,000 repairs daily to a portfolio of more than 1,000,000 homes nationwide.

Mears Careers National Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to empower and challenge you; you\xe2\x80\x99ll be trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. During your apprenticeship you will have a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn and will receive formal training coupled with working alongside our skilled workforce who will inspire and train you in the practical elements of the trade. The NVQ Level 2 Property Maintenance apprenticeship programme takes 36 months to complete.

Within this role, you will work under the direction, guidance and supervision of an experienced mentor to support the delivery of excellent refurbishment, repairs and maintenance service, whilst working to achieve a number of skills and qualifications.

Our housing teams provide rapid response and planned maintenance services for local authorities and registered providers and deliver in excess of 5,000 repairs every day to a growing portfolio of around 1,000,000 homes across the UK. We also provide a range of services to cover all areas of the housing sector, including regeneration, contact centre solutions, housing management, home improvement, facilities management, estate services, grounds maintenance, student accommodation and new build.

During your apprenticeship you will learn and develop a range of skills which includes Plumbing and tiling, basic electrical installation and fault-finding, carpentry, painting, decorating, and plastering.

Roles in Property Maintenance are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving equipment, working at height, and working indoors and outdoors.

What you need to have:

Functional skills in both Math and English to Level 4.

The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks.

Strong communication skills.

Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships.
