Apprentice Finance Assistant

Are you ready to kick-start your finance career? We are working with a prestigious and supportive employer in Newcastle upon Tyne who are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Finance Assistant to join a dynamic and friendly team where your contributions will make a real impact.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who already holds an AAT Level 2 qualification or apprenticeship who wants to progress and work towards a Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship. You'll receive full training and ongoing support in a professional environment that values development, accuracy, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records using Sage accounts software, including sales and purchase ledgers Assist with cashiering and banking duties Prepare accounts payable for approval, including expense claims Support the setup of BACS payments Process the Petty Cash Book and Accounts Receivable Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions Assist in budget preparation and support audit processes Occasionally support payroll processing and payroll costing (training provided) Act as a key point of contact for other departments on finance and accounting queries
Essential requirements:
Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or higher (mandatory requirement) AAT Level 2 Certificate or apprenticeship (mandatory requirement) A genuine interest in finance and accounting Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks Competent with Microsoft Excel and basic IT applications Excellent communication skills and a professional approach

Pay: From 14,742.00 per year
