The Role of the Applications Engineer - Life Science

• Field based applications role involved in commissioning and specification of products used in the life science sector for fluid handling applications.
• Typical products are Valves, Sensors, Drives, Grippers, Dispense and Pipette Heads, Electronic Controllers.
• There will be joint visits with the sales team as well as individual visits (at least 20 per year).
• Will be doing product demo\'s, workshops, show stands etc...
• Involved with Electrical Automation and Servo Drives, PLC\'S (1st layer of programming), Controlled Pneumatics (Precision Control PID loops).
• Working on complex systems with their products integrated. Focussing on Factory Automation, Automotive, F&B, Pharma etc... Mainly dealing with OEM\'s, Special Purpose Machine Builders as well as some end-users.
• Ideally based in the East Midlands with frequent travel across the UK and to Europe.

The Ideal Person for the Applications Engineer - Life Science

• Commercial awareness and ideally be able to spot additional opportunities to configure and commission Servo Drives.
• Great if you can do some simple PLC coding.
• Need to understand what sizing is and able to do commissioning.
• Could have come from a technical or design background and now looking to develop further in your career.
• More of an engineer than a sales person.
• 5 years + in a similar role.
• Possibly an Applications Engineer, Projects/Design but moved into something with a commercial/sales slant.
• Someone who can take a system that someone else has designed and integrate their products into the whole machine.
• Apprenticeship, HNC+ or Degree preferred though time served considered in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic or possibly Mechanical if they understand sizing.
• A strong understanding of the life science sector.
