The Application Security team at IG

We are a small team and always support each other to ensure security remains a core part of IG technology. Our team works with software, infrastructure and business teams to ensure potential risks to our systems are addressed as early as possible during development.

The role within the Team

While the role will at times focus on specific software or tools, all Application Security team members must excel at summarising and communicating software vulnerabilities and their risks quickly to any layer of the business. You will need to research new technology and processes while also ensuring that older systems continue to adhere to our security requirements.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be involved with

A range of languages and systems: from Java, Python and C++, through automation and pipelines to cloud and containerisation.

Communicating security across the business: technical details and management summaries.

Configuring security controls, assessing and interpreting data and making decisions.

Security alerts, taking an active role as the team quickly move to define risk and take action.

Working with development and architecture teams to ensure security is embedded in design and implementation.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need

You must have a keen interest in practical application security, both in determining risk from new findings and in mitigating vulnerabilities.

Excellent communication skills are very important: you will need to successfully explain technical issues quickly across the business.

While we don\xe2\x80\x99t require formal qualifications in security, proven security experience will be a major advantage.

Recent development, DevOps or software testing experience would also be very useful.

Most importantly: a willingness to learn, to quickly understand new systems and the confidence to adapt security ideas to changing circumstances.

Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

As part of our hybrid working environment, you\xe2\x80\x99ll split your time between home and the office but will require on average 2 days a week in the London office to collaborate with colleagues and the wider Tech Team.
