Overall Purpose of the Role:
We are looking for someone to help with the health, happiness, welfare and wellbeing of all the animals on site. This job will be mostly in the cattery but with one day a week in the dog section. This job role will also require full flexibility and be able to cover holidays and sick days. Will also require reception cover.
This is a hands-on role where the work can be fast paced and at times demanding. There will be countless opportunities to experience new challenges and learn new skills.You will be required to demonstrate excellent customer care and to be committed to the work of the Destitute Animal Shelter.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the Operations Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure a high performing culture, driving employee engagement through effective communication, and by giving and receiving regular feedback.
Supporting the Operations Manager and Deputy Manager in working on reception when cover is needed. Dealing with the public, answering enquires, answering emails and phone calls, assisting adoptions, helping and assisting the staff and volunteers, processing new dogs and cats, handling payments.
Care and welfare of all animals at the Shelter, including:cleaning, feeding, walking, training, administering medications, sorting through donations, interacting with members of public, new cat intake, supervising volunteers, covering reception, answering enquires, amongst other things.
Undertaking any other general duties as directed by the Operations Manager, Deputy Managerand co-operate with other members of staff as required.
Person Specification:
Essential: Good standard of education.
Practical experience working with animals.
Working with the general public.
Excellent customer care and communication skills.
Ability to plan and organise on your own.
Attention to detail.
Commitment to animal welfare.
Confident around all cats and all temperament's.
Resilient and calm approach.
Act with professional integrity.
Fully Flexible.
Work well within a team.
A good level of physical fitness.
UK driving license
Desirable:
Animal Care Qualification.
An understanding of and commitment to health and safety in the work place.
Good knowledge of working with cats.
Creativity and able to help with social media.
A commitment to and understand of the benefits of animal welfare education.
Fundraising knowledge/ideas.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: 12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 29 - 40 per week
