Role: Analyst Consultant - Climate Action Planning and Transparency ( CAPT)

Location: hybrid role in London, Harwell (Oxfordshire), Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol
Salary: \xc2\xa326-30,000 + benefits

Key responsibilities

As an Analyst Consultant, you will provide research and analytical support to our team of international experts in order to deliver a wide range of projects at local, regional and national level, in the rapidly developing area of Climate Action Planning & Transparency. Typical projects are funded and commissioned by multilateral development banks, bilateral agencies and development partners, and include:

  • Supporting the development of greenhouse gas inventories and emissions projections, for city, regional and national governments
  • Assessing mitigation actions, and developing emission reduction scenarios, using a range of models and tools
  • Supporting the design and implementation of climate action plans and policies, for local, regional and national governments around the world, to deliver a net zero and resilient future
  • Designing and developing national monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) systems, to support countries in strengthening domestic arrangements for managing their climate reporting and tracking progress
  • Providing guidance, training and technical assistance on transparency processes under the UNFCCC, including tracking progress on nationally determined contributions (NDCs), support received (such as climate finance), and reporting requirements under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF)
You will contribute to both the delivery of this existing work and the development of future projects we undertake, developing your skills and expertise, and contributing to the team\xe2\x80\x99s business development plan.

Key competencies and experience
  • A Bachelors (2.1 or above), Masters or PhD in a scientific or environmental subject.
  • An interest and awareness of key environmental and climate change issues.
  • A high level of numeracy and an interest and talent for data analysis.
  • Experience and a high level of skill in research and analysis.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong PC literacy \xe2\x80\x93 especially in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Aptitude for using your technical knowledge creatively to address new challenges.

Desirable
  • Experience in a consultancy or in a customer facing commercial environment
  • Experience and technical knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting at national or city level
  • Experience in developing emissions projections or assessing the mitigation potential of actions
  • Knowledge of the Paris Agreement, and the Enhanced Transparency Framework
  • Fluency in a second language
