Job Advert Description
Openness and transparency are vital to public confidence in policing, and members of the public have a right to know about the policing matters they care about. As an Alliance FOI Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring that we uphold this right and meet our legal requirements relating to information access.
As part of the Alliance Information Management Department, this specialist role is responsible for ensuring that information requests are handled appropriately under the FOI Act 2000. The post holder will make decisions with the support of the FOI team and FOI Manager to balance legal and reputational risk with the information access rights of the public.
No two days are ever the same, with request topics ranging from speed camera locations to service performance, information about serious crime, and everything in between. This varied role presents new and exciting challenges every day and will give the post holder an insight into what our communities care about. Due to the nature of some of the requests the Force receives, you may be required to look at sensitive and potentially distressing information, so please take that into consideration when applying for this role.
As well as developing a host of transferable skills, there will be opportunities to undertake training and development in a variety of areas, including completing a nationally recognised FOI practitioner certificate if this is not already held.
Based at either Middlemoor HQ (Devon & Cornwall Police area) or Winfrith HQ (Dorset Police area), the successful candidate will benefit from flexitime and opportunities to carry out their role from home, their base location, or elsewhere across the two Force estates in a hybrid arrangement, subject to a successful probation period and business need.
Applications are welcomed and encouraged by people from all backgrounds. If you would like to discuss any specific requirements or reasonable adjustments, please do let us know.
